In the process of his labor activity, a person constantly had to process various natural materials. In nature, minerals, which are part of the rocks, are divided by the degree of hardness. And this means that you can always find a more solid stone that can be processed by other breeds. This was relevant especially in a time when industry has not yet been developed. Gradually, chemists revealed the most solid mineral, which was called diamond, which in Arabic means “indestructible”.
Diamond for a long time was used by people only as the most expensive decoration, because after cutting it acquired beauty, thanks to multiple internal reflections. But in the middle of the 19th century, diamonds, like the most solid stone, began to be used for drilling and drilling holes. This happened during the construction of the railway tunnel in the Alps. It was then that they found out that the diamond lends itself to the most durable rocks. Naturally, such a tool was very expensive, since even the smallest diamond was expensive.
Studying the chemical composition of the diamond, scientists have proved that it can be created artificially. However, only in the 60s of the 20th century did they learn to make artificial diamonds in large quantities, in its properties not inferior to the natural. And it was a big breakthrough in creating abrasive materials that could process and polish a variety of materials. Now, practically, every artisan owner has a diamond tool.
